Images of Waco – The 25th St. Theater

I am in the process of capturing various Waco “Landmarks.”  One of those is the 25th St. Theater.  When they were in High School and after, the kids used to go there frequently. Later, of course, it has called into disrepair, although there are efforts to revive it.

And a Black and White image as well.

Food Photography – Bacon and Eggs

I decided to spend a weekend concentrating on food photography.  Over the course of the weekend, I prepared two breakfasts of Bacon and eggs.  The first one is a rather classic preparation and photograph.

For the second and third ones,  I added Pico de Gallo to the scrambled eggs.

Images of Waco – East Waco

When leaving Sam’s the other day, I noticed the junk yard on the other side of the street, and thought the rusting old truck between two railroad cars made a pretty good image of contrasting colors.

I then drove up Elm Avenue again and saw an old, abandoned fast station that I thought would also make a good image.

Decades ago, there was an all Black college in that part of town called Paul Quinn College. There are still buildings that remain, and many of them have been renovated for use as schools.  But this one had not.

Wildflowers

April is the month for wildflowers in Texas.  Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush are blooming at the same time.  On the way home a couple nights ago, we drove on Santa Fe and Whitehall Park was amazing.

Waco – Yellow Doors

Driving down Franklin, I have frequently noticed the large yellow doors on a building downtown.  The building is red brick, and the yellow doors provide quite a colorful contrast.

The doors themselves have a great deal of character.

Cameron Park – Jacob’s Ladder and Clubhouse

I took an afternoon and went to Cameron Park.  Jacob’s Ladder is a long stair that goes from the upper park area to the riverfront.

Cameron Park Clubhouse is a pavilion that can be rented for various functions.

Hwy 84

We took a small road trip a couple weeks ago to Nacogdoches.  On the way home, we drove Hwy 84 most of the way.  I stopped several places for some pictures, and ended up with some nice images.

Red Shed

I liked the contrast between the color of the shed and ramp and the surrounding winter vegetation here.

Fairfield White House

The way the overgrown vegetation was melding with this house was quite interesting. And, the two vultures on the roof were rather symbolic.
